Member of Local 22 for many years

 

DeSimone-Obit-webSOMERVILLE — Giovanni “John” DeSimone, 76, of Somerville, died Wednesday, Nov. 26 after a long illness in Somerville.

Born in Italy, he lived in Somerville for the past 67 years. Giovanni was a Laborer with Local 22 in Boston for many years and retired in 2003.

He was the beloved husband of Domenica (Taranto) and the devoted father of Rosemary Clark and her husband Randall of Somerville, Elena O’Leary and her husband Joseph of Medford, Francesca DeCristoforo and her husband Joseph of North Reading, John L. DeSimone and his wife Lisa of Somerville. He was the loving grandfather of Sara Clark, Matthew O’Leary, Lindsey and Emily DeCristoforo. He was the cherished son of the late Rosaria (DeSimone) and Francesco DeSimone and the dear brother of Rosina Colucciello, Louisa LaVerde both of Italy, Lina Tranfaglia, Elena Colarusso both of Medford and the late Antonio DeSimone. Giovanni is also survived by many loving brothers–in–law, sisters–in–law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His funeral was held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, Dec. 1 followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville. Services concluded with entombment at Woodlawn Community Mausoleum, Everett.
