GIRL SCOUT 82220 recently helped the Wakefield Department of Public Works (DPW) plant a flowering crab tree in Hall Park to commemorate Arbor Day and Earth Day. The new tree replaces one that was lost in an early Spring storm, according to Dennis Fazio, DPW Cemetery, Forestry and Parks Department Supervisor. The local scouts approached the DPW with a plan to replace the tree as they worked to complete their Take Action Badge. “This was a great way for the girl scouts to earn their badge while giving back to the community,” Fazio said. “The DPW was glad for their help and for the opportunity to plant a tree in honor of Arbor Day.” (Courtesy Photo)
