LYNNFIELD — On Monday evening, the Lynnfield High girls’ lacrosse team won its second game in a row as they beat guest Triton, 16-4, on Senior Night.

With that victory, the Pioneers improved to 8-7 overall and 3-7 in the Cape Ann League.

“It was a great game and every senior started,” pointed out Pioneers head coach Christina Serra, as the eight Pioneers seniors were also honored before the game.

Lynnfield led this game, 9-4, at the half as they shut out the Vikings in the second half.

Senior captain Charlotte Radulski led the Pionee offense with five goals while senior captain Chloe Considine had three goals and one assist.

Sophomore Taylor Valiton also had a big day with three goals and two assists. Senior Avery Bird had a team-high three assists to go with one goal.

Senior Hannah Gromko had one goal and one assist while single goals were scored by junior Maddie Mastrangelo, senior captain Kiera Mallett and senior Payton Munion.

Sophomore Lily White had one assist.

Lynnfield goalie, Casey Flynn, made 11 saves as the junior’s record improved to 8-7.

Bird, Considine, captain Maddie Daigle, Gromko, Mallett, Isabella Mendese, Munion and Radulski were the eight seniors honored.

Last Saturday morning, the Pioneers beat host Malden Catholic, 15-12, in a non-league game. Lynnfield was able to complete the season sweep over the Lancers as they won the first meeting 13-11, back on April 25.

That win also snapped the team’s six-game losing streak.

Lynnfield led 9-3 at the half but the hosts stormed back and cut the lead to12-11 before the Pioneers pulled away.

“I got nervous in the second half,” admitted Serra. “But, we were able to put it back together late when they cut the lead to one.”

Valiton led the team in scoring in this game with six goals. Considine had four goals and two assists. Chloe Gromko had two goals and one assist while Radulski also scored twice.

Bird had the other tally.

Hannah Gromko and Julietta Figueras both had one assist. For Figueras, it was her first-career point as she was a call-up from the junior varsity team.

Flynn made 10 stops in that game.

On May 10, the Pioneers lost at Georgetown by a final of 13-10.

The Royals led this game, 8-6, at the half.

“I wish we had another chance to play them,” said Serra. “They outplayed us in the second half.”

Valiton had four goals while Radulski had a hat trick. Hannah Gromko had two goals while Considine had one goal and one assist. Mastrangelo had one assist.

Flynn turned back eight Royal shots on net.

On May 17, the Pioneers visit Pentucket. Two days later, they play their final Cape Ann League game of the season as they go to Newburyport.

On May 22, they host Shawsheen Tech in a non-league game. All three games are slated to start at 4 p.m.
