Warriors dropped by Lexington, 14-11

LEXINGTON — The Wakefield Memorial High girls’ lacrosse team is still searching for its first Middlesex League victory, although it wasn’t for a lack of effort.

The Warriors gave Lexington all it could handle on Wednesday afternoon at Lincoln Park, but suffered a 14-11 defeat to the Minutewomen.

Wakefield fell to 2-2 on the year and are 0-2 in the M.L. The Warriors also had their two-game win streak snapped with the loss.

“It was a great game,” said Coach Cara Luca.

The halftime score was 9-5. Lexington scored four unanswered goals with two minutes remaining in the first half. That scoring run was probably the difference in the outcome as Luca felt that Wakefield could’ve won the game otherwise.

Both of Wakefield’s goalies, juniors Bianca Passacantilli and Mikayla White, played well.

The Warrior offense also played well, also. The goal scorers were unavailable.

Wakefield faces Reading this afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Parker Middle School in Reading.
