LYNNFIELD — A total of 14 members of the Pioneers girls’ indoor track team achieved personal records while competing in the final regular season meet Jan. 27.

While the team bowed twice in the tri-meet against their North Reading (64.5 to 21.5) and Masconomet 65 to 21), opponents, head coach Liane Cook was pleased with the achievements of each girl as they demonstrated steady improvement throughout the season.

Rachel DiTullio surpassed her pervious best marks in both the shot put (26′ 1 1/4″) and 1000m (4:15). Kate Mitchell (3:17) won the 1000m race against both teams while both Sara Rocco (4:02) and Natalie Albanese (4:28) also rocked it with personal bests.

Natasha Desir achieved the milestone in the hurdles (12.04) while Courtney Shinnick ran a PR in the the 55m dash (8.43). Lilli Patterson (8.42) earned the lone point by finishing third against both teams in the dash.

Meryl Braconnier (6:11.08) hit the mark in the mile while finishing in second place against Masconomet and third place against North Reading.

Gracie Sperling (48.4, 2nd against NR), Tia Julian (49.5, 3rd against NR), Sarah Crockett (51.86) and Lucy Madden each ran their personal best in the 300m. Crockett (4’6″) also took second in the high jump versus Masco and third against North Reading.

In the middle distance events, Liz Reed (1:55) won the 600m race against both towns while both Emma Rocco (2:04) and Sami Shea (2:09) ran a personal best pace.

Lastly, Lilli DiPietro (14:28) and Cristina Kinslieh (14:45) ran their best to date in the two-mile. DiPietro finished second against North Reading and third against Masco while Kinslieh earned third against North Reading.

14 qualify for CALs

Yesterday, after press time, a dozen members of the varsity team competed in the varsity CAL Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

“We are proud of all the girls this whole season for working hard and improving up through this last week,” Cook said.

The CAL qualifiers are: Lilli Patterson, Brie Giamarco, Liz Reed, Gracie Sperling, Kate Mitchell, Lexi Yannone. Meryl Braconnier, Lilli DiPietro, Sarah Bartolotta, Cristina Kinslieh, Courtney Shinnick and Christa Romano. Look for results of that meet next week as the girls seek more opportunities to improve and qualify for the state meet later this month.
