LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield-North Reading co-operative wrestling team went undefeated last week, improving the Black and Gold’s overall record this season to 14-6-1.

The Black and Gold began last week defeating Peabody 46-24 Jan. 22. The grapplers won six out of 10 weight classes that were wrestled, while the Tanners had to forfeit four weight classes.

Freshman Dylan Reardon (106 lbs.) won his match by forfeit. Junior Will Glover (113 lbs.) pinned his counterpart in 1:53. Junior Joe Reardon (120 lbs.) defeated his opponent by fall in 43 seconds. Senior Kai Jean-Simon (126 lbs.) won his match by forfeit. Senior captain Max Whyman (132 lbs.) won his match by forfeit.

Junior Adam Rossetti (138 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 4:35. Senior captain Michael Reardon (145 lbs.) defeated his counterpart by fall in 4:20. Senior captain Zack Monzione (152 lbs.) defeated his opponent by a 10-2 major decision. Senior Devin Leggett (160 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 1:47. Sophomore Anthony Wilkinson (170 lbs.) won his match by forfeit.

Defeats Canton

The Black and Gold defeated Canton, St. John’s of Shrewsbury and Malden in a quad meet Jan. 23.

The grapplers earned a thrilling 34-33 victory over Canton during the quad meet.

Canton had a 33-11 lead before the Black and Gold won the next four matches, which enabled the locals to trail Canton 33-30. Monzione (152 lbs.) was able to clinch the victory for the grapplers after he defeated his counterpart by a 10-2 major decision.

Dylan Reardon (106 lbs.) won his match by a 6-2 decision. Joe Reardon (120 lbs.) won his match by a 9-1 major decision. Whyman (132 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 2:58. Rossetti (138 lbs.) defeated his counterpart by fall in 4:22.

Michael Reardon (145 lbs.) defeated his opponent by a 9-3 decision. Leggett (160 lbs.) defeated his opponent by a 22-5 technical fall. Jared Curran (195 lbs.) won his match by a 7-6 decision.

Defeats St. John’s

The Black and Gold defeated St. John’s of Shrewsbury 60-16. The grapplers led the match from start to finish.

Dylan Reardon (106 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 14 seconds. Jean-Simon (126 lbs.) defeated his counterpart by fall in 1:33. Whyman pinned his opponent in 3:30. Sophomore Andrew DiPietro (138 lbs.) defeated his counterpart by fall in 1:23. Rossetti (145 lbs.) defeated his opponent by a 6-5 decision.

Monzione (152 lbs.) pinned his counterpart in 5:13. Wilkinson (160 lbs.) defeated his opponent by a 7-6 decision. Leggett (170 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 36 seconds. Junior Joe Gonthier (182 lbs.), Kevin Farrelly (195 lbs.) and Tim Goucher (220 lbs.) won their respective matches by forfeit.

Defeats Malden

The Black and Gold defeated Malden 48-10 during the quad meet.

Dylan Reardon (106 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 1:52. Whyman (132 lbs.) defeated his counterpart by fall in 21 seconds. Rossetti (138 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 1:15. Michael Reardon defeated his counterpart by fall in 1:54.

Leggett (160 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 2:23. Wilkinson (170 lbs.) defeated his counterpart by fall in 1:31. Gonthier (182 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 1:19. Goucher (220 lbs.) defeated his counterpart in 3:22.

Upcoming meets

The Black and Gold host Georgetown-Ipswich on Wednesday, Jan. 27, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The grapplers will compete in the Cape Ann League Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 30, beginning at 9 a.m.
