WAKEFIELD — Hazel E. Cook, age 88, of Wakefield passed away peacefully on June 12, 2021 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House with family by her side.

Born in Somerville on January 22, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Hazel Cadagan.

Hazel was a graduate of Malden High School. While primarily a homemaker, Hazel held many different positions over the years to keep herself occupied. The job she was most passionate about was the many years she spent volunteering at the Wakefield Food Pantry. Hazel’s greatest joys came from spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Hazel was the beloved wife of the late Calvin George Cook. She was the loving mother of Leslie Cook; Jacqueline Holland and husband, Jeremy; Calvin Cook; Jeffrey Cook and wife, Susan; Linda Cook and late husband, David Gaw; Kimberly Cook and husband, John Gillespie; and  David Cook and wife, Courtney. Sister of the late Francis Blackney and late Louise Gushen. Grandmother of Melissa, Tara, Andy, Calvin, Kerry, Zachary, Benjamin, Kali, Casey, Anna, Matthew, Colin, Angus, Lily, Kolton, Cameron, and Tyler. Great grandmother of Olivia, Henry, Jackson, and Kaira.

Visitation for relative and friends will be held at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the First Parish Congregation Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield on Thursday at 10 a.m., followed by interment at the Lakeside Cemetery on North Ave. in Wakefield. All are invited to attend.
