Cronan-webWAKEFIELD — Helen A. Cronan, 90 of Wakefield died Sunday, June 21, at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody.

Born in Bridgeport, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Alex and Agatha (Opiat) Wcislo.

Helen was a graduate of Fairfield (Conn.) High School. She had been a resident of Wakefield since 1963 and she enjoyed playing bingo at St. Joseph Church, the Senior Center and the Wakefield Lodge of Elks. She was employed with many local companies which included Transitron, Poly-Pak, Paul K. Guillow Co. and the E.E. Boit Home. Helen was also an avid Red Sox fan.

She was the wife of the late Stephen A. Cronan. She was the mother of Robert B. Cronan and his wife Janet of Wilmington, Donald J. Cronan and his wife Patricia of Rochester, N.H. and the late Stephen J. Cronan and Sheila E. Fales. She was the sister of Stanley Weislo of Fairfield, Conn., Frances Wilson of Columbia, S.C. and the late Joseph Wcislo. She is also survived by her grandchildren Daniel, Lauren, Kevin, Jennifer, Michael, Rebecca, Kristen, Stephanie and Joshua, as well as three great-grandchildren Wayne, Adam and Haley.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o’clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
