ObitGreene-webWAKEFIELD — Helen Muriel Greene, 96, a Wakefield resident for 75 years, passed away March 3, 2016 in Burlington. She had recently been a resident of Stonebridge in Burlington.

She was born in Somerville on Dec. 19, 1919 to the late Oscar and Elizabeth (Patchell) Penney.

Helen was a graduate of Reading High School Class of 1939. She was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church, the Wakefield Arts and Crafts and The Garden Club. She loved needlepoint and other similar activities.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband and was an active part in the family business, D.S. Greene Co, when it started in the basement of their home in 1952.

She was the beloved wife of the late Donald S. Greene. She was the loving mother of D. Steven Greene Jr. and his wife Martha of Stoneham, Carole L. Greene Clark and her husband David of Plymouth and Janet M. Greene Humphrey and her husband Eric of Bedford. She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at the Lakeside Cemetery, North Avenue, Wakefield. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
