Great–grandmother of nine with local survivors

Helen-Plath-Obit-webATTLEBORO – Helen R. (McGovern) Plath, 95, of Attleboro passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 in the Madonna Manor Nursing Home, North Attleboro. She was the loving wife of John N. Plath of Attleboro.

Born on April 22, 1921 in Providence, RI, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (Keating) McGovern.

Helen grew up in Providence, RI and was a 1939 graduate of St. Mary Academy – Bay View in Providence.

She was employed by the former Sillman’s Shoe Store in Attleboro for many years as a bookkeeper.

Helen was an avid reader, and a great cook who was known for her delicious apple pie. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her loving family.

In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by her two daughters, Judith Kelleher and her husband Bill of North Reading and Elaine Scott and her husband Rick of Attleboro; 5 grandchildren, William Kelleher and his wife Kristy of Boston, Meaghan Kloetzel and her husband Alex of Alexandria, VA, Katie Patriquin and her husband Ryan of Ipswich, Matthew Scott and his wife Helen of Manhasset, NY and Colleen Babul and her husband Mike of Jersey City, NJ; 9 great grandchildren, Kolton, Kane, Bailey, Alex, Aidan, Riley, Bode, Marie and Eleni.

She was the sister of the late James and Mary McGovern.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 8:30 -10:30 a.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, 18 Baltic St., Attleboro.

Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
