Quick witted and humorous woman

Porter-obit-webREADING — Helen Porter, 88, died peacefully on Dec. 2 at The Sawtelle Family Hospice House with her devoted husband by her side.
She was born in Wakefield on Dec. 24, 1927 and was the daughter of the late John and Stephanie (Gorski) Czarnota.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Joseph Porter; daughter Gail Shevlin and her husband William of Wakefield; daughter Susan Tracy and her husband Shawn of Danvers; grandchildren Nathan Shevlin and his wife Lora, Faith Shevlin, Rachel Hart and her husband James, Hillary Tracy, and Thomas Tracy; and great-grandchildren Vianna and Will.
She was predeceased by her siblings: Max, Paul and Fred Ramocki, Lucy Priest and Joseph “Red” Czarnota.
She enjoyed golf, aerobic dancing, bowling, traveling, but she especially enjoyed time spent with her family. Helen was known for her quick wit and great sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m.
