NEW YORK—Emily Hickey, a Melrose resident and a junior at Austin Preparatory School, qualified for the emerging elite level at the 2019 New Balance National Indoor Meet this weekend at the famed Armory in New York City.
The New Balance Nationals marks the end of an extremely successful indoor season for Emily as she captured numerous titles in the pole vault and established an indoor personal best of 11’7″.
The focus now turns to outdoors where Hickey has established herself as one of the top pole vaulters in New England and hopes to eclipse the 12 foot barrier. Emily captured the winning heights at the Dartmouth Relays, the Rhode Island Classic, The EastCoast Invitational as well as the PreNational Meet at the NYC Armory.
