WAKEFIELD — Thieves continue to rob people in Wakefield of their identity as scammers find ways to steal their money and purchase products in their names.
Yesterday, another case was reported just before 5:30 p.m. when a man from Greenwood notified police about a letter he received from a collection agency stating that he owed Direct TV $700 for services rendered.
The man told police he never opened an account with Direct TV.
Police are now investigating the complaint.

In other police business on Tuesday:
• Two minor collisions were reported at about 7:45 a.m. and 9:10 a.m. The first accident took place at the intersection of North Avenue and Albion Street and the second took place on North Avenue. Papers were exchanged following the accidents.
• Police notified the Department of Public Works about a sign that went down on Lincoln Street near the Bank of America. The incident was logged at about 2 p.m.
• Wires were reported hanging low on North Avenue at 2:45 p.m. and a cable wire that had come down on Crescent Street was reported at about 3 p.m. Wires were also reported down on Fairmount Avenue at about 6 p.m. The Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department was notified about all three incidents.
• A tree that fell on Howard Street was removed by a crew from the DPW at about 6:30 p.m.
• A broken chair was said to be causing a traffic hazard when it was spotted in the roadway at the intersection of Water Street and Butler Avenue at about 11:20 p.m. The chair was removed from the roadway.
