Educator for special needs children
PEABODY — Janet D. (McCallum) White, 59, of Peabody, wife of Michael J. White, died at her home on Monday, December 29, 2014 with her loving family by her side.
Janet was born in Winthrop, on October 1, 1955, the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Donahue) McCallum. She was raised in East Boston and graduated from Fitton High School Class of 1973, and has been a resident of Peabody since 1984.
Janet was employed by the City of Peabody School Department as a Paraprofessional Elementary Educator for Special Needs Children attending the Brown School. Janet was a loving mother who devoted her life to creating a home for family while supporting her children with their sports curriculum and endeavors. Many will remember Janet for her devotion caring to animals.
In addition to her husband with whom she shared 30 years of marriage, Janet is survived by her cherished children, Matthew S. White, Jessica A. White and her fiancée James W. Galvin, and Megan M. White and her fiancée David O’Brien all of Peabody; two granddaughters, Alexa and Aliyah O’Brien; a sister and her husband, Ellen J. and David DiFiore of North Reading; two brothers and their spouses, Henry and Sharon McCallum of Mesa, AZ, and Dana and Catherine Donahue of New Albany, OH; a sister–in–law, Carol McCallum of Wareham; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also pre–deceased by her brother Ronald McCallum.
Her funeral was held held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from the Conway, Cahill–Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial . at St. Adelaide Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in Janet’s memory to the Lahey Clinic Sophia Gordon Cancer Center. A family committal of ashes will be held at a later time.
