PEABODY — Janet F. (Hall) Winter, 94, of Peabody and formerly of Reading for many years, died Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Sunrise of Gardner Park in Peabody. She was the beloved wife of the late Norman J. Winter, Sr.
Born in Somerville on September 22, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Roy, Sr. and Gertrude (McLaughlin) Hall. Janet was a graduate of Somerville High School and Mass. College of Art in Boston.
She was a full time plus homemaker. Janet worked part time at Cerratani’s Supermarket in Reading, she worked in the cafeteria at the Pearl Street School in Reading and the Nixdorf Corporation in North Reading.
Janet was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a devoted Catholic and said the Rosary daily for family, friends and special intensions. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Church in North Reading. Janet was very artistic, she loved to sew, knit, crochet and was an avid reader. She was very generous and a kind person.
Family members include her loving sons, Norman J. Winter, Jr. and wife Janice of CA; Dennis J. Winter and wife Karen and William R. Winter, all of Reading and the late Thomas F. Winter, Sr.; her daughter, Lisa M. Richardson and husband James of North Reading. She was the sister of the late Roy Hall, Jr.; Albert Hall, Sr.; Chester Hall; Edith Hodgins; Dorothy, Mary and Elsa Hall; brother-in-law, Howard T. Winter and wife Ellen of Millbury; 12 loving grandchildren, Dana Winter of CA; Craig Winter of CT; Stephanie Foraker and husband Rob of CA; Thomas Winter and wife Michelle of Taunton, Richard Winter of Idaho; Dawn Hoag and husband Rob of NH; Scott Winter of Wilmington; Amy Sogoloff and husband Mark of Wakefield; Andrew Richardson and wife Jeanette of Wilmington; Christopher Richardson and wife Allison of Methuen and Kathryn Doucette and husband Tom of Medford and the late Norman Winter, III; seven great– grandchildren and a great–great–grandson.
Her funeral is from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St. on Saturday, September 17, at 8:45 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St. (Rt. 62), North Reading. Calling hours will be on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Scituate.
