Cargillobit-webWAKEFIELD — Jean E. (Griffin) Cargill, 72, of Wakefield, passed away on January 4.

Jean was born in Melrose on October 26, 1944 to Albert and Mary (Seabury) Griffin. She was raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1962.

Jean was a proud lifelong resident of Wakefield and enjoyed running errands all around town.

She was an active member
of St. Joseph Church, where she was baptized and was married to her late husband Edwin on
October 4, 1969.

Jean’s biggest passion in life was her family. She loved her children and grandchildren with all of her heart and was very proud of them all. Jean will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was the devoted wife of the late Edwin J. Cargill Jr. She was the beloved mother of Karen M. Garland and her husband Christopher of Haverhill, Diana C. Rajoo of Everett, Pamela A. Camponescki and her significant other Brian of Wakefield, and John Herrity. Beloved grandmother of Hayley, Abigail, and Mia. Loving sister of Richard Griffin, Ann Amaral, Mary Edwards, Dorothy Hatch, and the late David Griffin. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 6, from 4 p.m. to
8 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, at 9 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield. Interment at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
