Jeanne-Muise-obit-webMELROSE — Jeanne M. (Melanson) Muise, 81, of Melrose, died at the Wingate of Melrose on July 20.

Jeanne was born in East Boston and grew up in the Cliftondale section of Saugus, graduating from Saugus High School in 1953. She was an avid photographer as a young woman, excelled in school and had perfect left-handed penmanship.

She worked in Boston for Worthmore Feeds where she met her future sister-in-law and ran a comptometer at HP Hood. She met her husband, Paul, through mutual family connections and they married in 1955.

After starting family life in Saugus, Virginia and Malden, Jeanne and Paul moved their young family to Melrose in 1964. Jeanne was an awesome Mom to her children and Grammie to her grandchildren.

Jeanne came from a musical family, was a talented piano player, loved music and was always singing. She enjoyed going with Paul and friends to clubs to watch Paul’s band play. She taught Sunday school at Incarnation Parish. She took pleasure in growing roses and bird watching.

She was a funny lady and always got everyone laughing with her great stories. Jeanne loved her family history traveling frequently to visit relatives in Nova Scotia. She enjoyed traveling with Steven’s fiddle group, to Canada and Ireland, as well as, a trip to Italy and many places in the U.S. Her vibrant spirit will live forever in those she touched with her love of life and family.

Jeanne was the beloved wife of Paul Muise for 61 years. She was the loving mother of Leo Muise Jr. and his wife Jannalee of New Hampshire, James Muise and his wife Linda of Melrose, Lauretta Sherman and her husband Warren of Peabody and Steven Muise and his wife Debby of Maine and the late Teresa (Muise) Noone. She was the cherished grandmother of Christopher, Katie, Rebecca, James, Daniel, Jordan, Holly and Neil. Caring sister of Edward Melanson and his wife Ann of Wilmington and the late Thomas Melanson and his wife Dot of Peabody. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Friday, July 29, from 2 to 6 p.m. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday, July 30, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 429 Upham St., Melrose at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
