Will join the track and field team this winter and next spring

WAKEFIELD — Recent WMHS graduate and 2015 Class President Joseph Hurton will be competing for the Division 1 Providence College track and field team starting this winter and spring.
Hurton joined the Wakefield Memorial High School track team as a sophomore. He made major improvements by his senior year and was ranked one of the top triple jumpers in the state and one of the top 400 meter hurdlers and 400 meter runners in the Middlsex League.
He was Wakefield’s top point scorer during its championship season this past spring and was named a Middlesex League All-Star. He also a member of the 4×200 and 4×400 school record relay teams.
Hurton ran in the 4×200 relay at the New Balance National Championship in North Carolina this past June as well.
Hurton will be a hurdler, sprinter and jumper for the Friars.
