WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield Memorial High School football team began the preseason yesterday. The practice was with helmets only.

To be able to practice, all players must submit proof of having passed a physical exam before being allowed to practice or play high school sports. Physicals are good for 13 months. Download a parental permission slip online if you are planning on attending. Make sure this paperwork is submitted prior to the first day of practice.

PRE-SEASON PRACTICE SCHEDULE

Tuesday, Aug. 25 — Practice (Helmets only) 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 26 Practice (Helmets only) 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 27 — Double Session starts at 8 a.m.

Friday, Aug. 28 — Double Session starts at 8 a.m.

Saturday, Aug. 29 — Varsity scrimmage vs. Northeast 10 o.m. (Freshman Off)

Sunday, Aug. 30 — OFF

Monday, Aug. 31 — Practice 4 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 1 — Varsity Scrimmage at Methuen 6 p.m.(Freshman Practice)

Wednesday, Sept. 2 — Practice 4 p.m.

Thurday, Sept. 3 — Practice 4 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 4 — Scrimmage vs. Lynn English 7 p.m.

Full equipment will be provided by the school (helmet, shoulder pads, practice pants and all pads, mouth guards, practice shirts, lock and locker). Players will need to purchase their own cleats. Some players may prefer to buy their own girdle pants and pads.

For the first three days of practice, players will wear helmets, shorts, T-shirts, and cleats. Players should also bring a pair of sneakers for some gym activities.
