A kind, respectful, true gentleman

 

Joel-Brush-obit-photo-webNORTH READING — Joel M. Brush, 59, of Saugus and formerly of Reading, died Sunday, May 23, 2015, at Carney Hospital in Dorchester, after a long illness.

Born in Greenwich, CT on April 17, 1956, he was the son of the late Howard F. and Arlene E. (Miller) Brush. Joel left school in Reading at age 15 to work for his father at the Boston Cheese Shop in Boston. He later worked as an auto mechanic for Midas and Meineke of the North Shore area. He was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Joel was a very kind, respectful human being with beautiful blue eyes. He was a true gentleman. He loved listening to music and popping wheelies on his Quickie 3 wheel chair and riding downtown on his Amigo Scooter. He enjoyed smoking cigarettes, he loved cars, especially Oldsmobiles.

Family members include his loving wife of 17 years, Karen T. (Yacovangelo) Brush of Saugus and formerly of North Reading; his son, Ryan P. Brush and his wife Andrea of Peabody; his brother, Jeff Brush and his wife Shirley of Wilmington; sisters, Joan Hoyt of Andover and Barbara Russo and her husband Bernie of Burlington. Also survived by his grandson, Joel L. Brush of Peabody.

His funeral service will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Thursday, May 28 at 7 p.m. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Peabody.
