WEST BARNSTABLE – John Parziale, 71, of West Barnstable, formerly of Melrose, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Kauai, Hawaii on March 16.

John was born in Melrose on January 4, 1947 to the late Vincent and Mary (Cefalo) Parziale. Raised in Melrose, he graduated from Melrose High School Class of 1965. He attended Mass Bay Community College and later graduated from Curry College. John taught woodworking at Woburn High School for over 30 years.

John was the beloved husband of Cheryl (Moulaison) Parziale, his high school sweetheart. They would have been married 49 years in August. They lived in Melrose where they raised their family for 35 years before retiring to Cape Cod.

A skilled furniture maker and woodworker, John was happiest when he was building something. He was an avid Melrose collector and never missed a good yard sale. He also enjoyed traveling, whether it was cruising with friends, visiting his sister in Boynton Beach, or spending the winter months with his son’s family in Kauai. John had an amazing sense of humor and took great pride in his family.

He was the loving father of John Parziale, Jr. and his wife Ann of Kauai, Hawaii, Jennifer Parziale of Melrose, Jill Antos and her husband Brian of West Barnstable, and James Parziale and his wife Cierra of Osterville. He was the dear brother of Vincent Parziale of Texas, Rita Hoey and her husband Al of Wakefield, and the late Gerard Parziale and his wife Shirley of Bellingham. He was the devoted grandfather to Timothy, Kailer, Owen, Indy, Kea, Ellie, Michael, Ka’iwa and Eli. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
