To feature Wakefield natives John Walsh and Steve Harrington

WAKEFIELD — The Walsh and Moran Basketball Clinic will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 19 at the Civic Center, 467 Main Street in Wakefield.

The clinic will include two sessions. Session One, from 4-6 p.m., is for boys and girls entering 1st – 5th grade. Session Two, from 6-8 p.m. is for boys and girls entering 6th – 8th grade.

The clinic will include: skills and drills (offensive and defensive fundamentals and ball handling), games (full court basketball games, 1-on-1, 3-on-3, steal the bacon, beat the counselor) and competitions (hot shot, Mikan, foul shot). 

The clinic will be run by three coaches: John Walsh, Paul Moran and Steve Harrington. 

Walsh is the current boys’ varsity head coach at Central Catholic. The Wakefield native won three state championships as head coach at Danvers High School. 

Harrington just won his fourth state championship at Watertown High School. 

Paul Moran has over 20 years of experience coaching boys and girls varsity basketball and was a 2,000 point scorer at Swampscott High School. 

All three coaches have been recipients of several awards, including multiple Coach of the Year Awards, have sent numerous players to college to play basketball and have run many basketball camps and clinics.

Current college and high school basketball players will be working the clinic as coaches and referees. 

Every child that attends the clinic will receive a t-shirt, a basketball, a water bottle, a pen and have the opportunity to win other prizes including trophies, medals and one of the two brand new bikes being given away.
