Beloved teacher, wife and mom with passion for adventure

LYNNFIELD — Jolene L. Tewksbury, 31, of Lynnfield, wife of Brian R. Tewksbury and mother of Alayna L. Tewksbury and Eleanor C. Tewksbury, died of a sudden heart attack on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. She was the daughter of Susan L. Moran and Kevin J. Barry, both of Falmouth. In addition she was loved as a daughter by Brian’s parents, Barbara and Don Tewksbury of West Newbury.

In addition, Jolene is survived by her sister Shannon Barry of Waltham, her brother Jake Barry of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and her grandmother Lucille Webb of North Andover.

Jolene was a graduate of Falmouth High School, Class of 2002, Wheelock College, Class of 2006 and had received her master’s degree in education from Wheelock College in 2007. She was a beloved and sought after fourth grade school teacher at the Birch Meadow Elementary School in Reading and a member of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Association.

Although her life ended too soon, it was full of adventure and compassion. In high school she was an athlete with a love for basketball and soccer. During college she experienced the world on a Semester at Sea and extensively backpacked through Europe. After college she focused all of her love and energy into raising her two beautiful daughters with her husband, and passed on her passionate love of learning and adventure to them as well as to countless students.

Visitation for relatives and friends was held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service was held at the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
