MELROSE — Over two dozen Melrose children went off to school with brand-new knapsacks, notebooks and other supplies thanks to the generosity of Christopher Cinella and his clients at Edward Jones Financial Advisors.
For the fourth year in a row, Cinella asked his clients to pick up something for the needy families of Melrose when they do their back to school shopping. He also asked for donations from local businesses. The Mayor’s Office coordinated distribution of the school supplies to families referred by the Red Cross and the Melrose Emergency Fund.
“The Emergency Fund focuses on the necessities — food and fuel — but education is very important to Melrose families,” said Mayor Rob Dolan. “I am glad that through Chris’s efforts and the generosity of so many donors, we are able to help make the first day of school special for these children.”
“Every child should be able to start off the school year with all the supplies they need,” said Cinella, “and I am happy that my office and my clients could help make that a reality.”
