Joseph-Chicoine-obit-8-19-16-webMELROSE — Joseph A. Chicoine, 72, of Melrose, died peacefully on Aug. 13.

Joseph was born in Somerville on Sept. 21, 1943 to Alfred and Mildred (Crowley) Chicoine. He was raised in Somerville and attended Somerville High School. Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960 and served his country honorably for four years. He worked as a self-employed plumber for many years.

He loved his family very much and was happiest when he was spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Joseph was the beloved husband of Marsha E. (Marren) Chicoine of Melrose. He was the loving father of Danielle Auger, Dana Chicoine and the late Joseph Chicoine, and daughter-in-law Stacey Chicoine, all of Melrose. He was the proud grandfather of Ashley Auger, Alissa Corso, William Chicoine and Jacqlyn Chicoine. He is also survived by his brother Louis Daniel Chicoine of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his siblings Neil Chicoine, Alfred Chicoine, Leon Chicoine and Mona Chicoine. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, Aug. 16 at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose. A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, Aug.17 at the Gately Funeral Home. Interment took place at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Kaplan Hospice House or to the Jimmy Fund in Joseph’s name.
