Joy-Hutchins-obit-webREVERE — Joy N. (Crowley) Hutchins, 75, of Revere, formerly of Melrose, passed away on Oct. 24.

Joy was born in Charlestown on Dec. 25, 1939. She was raised in Charlestown by her parents, James and Helen Crowley. Joy married William P. Hutchins and had their daughter Laura, and raised her in Melrose. Melrose became Joy’s home as well, and even after she later moved to Revere, she always considered herself from Melrose. The highlights of Joy’s life were her two granddaughters, Emily and Lindsey. She never missed any of their games no matter the weather or how far away she had to travel. She would be seated in the front row. By attending all of these games, Joy became very well known around town and made many friends. Her grandchildren could do no wrong in her eyes and she was proud beyond words.

In addition to her family, Joy had an active social life, going to dinner and movies with friends as well as meeting her morning coffee group at Revere Beach every day. She loved Revere Beach, but occasionally throughout the year, she would make her way to Ogunquit, Maine for a lobster roll. Over the last 10 years, Joy also worked as a nanny for many families around Melrose.

Joy was the loving mother of Laura (Hutchins) Cataldo and her husband Christopher of Melrose. She was the proud grandmother of Emily and Lindsey. Visitation took place on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the Gately Funeral Home 79 West Foster St., Melrose. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Melrose High School Permanent Scholarship Fund Organization, c/o Joy Hutchins, PO Box 760695, Melrose MA 02176.
