READING — Joyce M. Curran, 89, of Wakefield formerly of Spring Hill, Fla. died on Sunday, April 26 at the Wingate at Reading.

Born in England on July 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Frederick G. and Margaret (Smith) Warwick.

Joyce was raised in Portsmouth, England. She married her husband Leo in Belgium in 1945 while she was serving in the English Army and he was serving in the United States Army. Joyce was a longtime Wakefield resident before moving to Florida. She was a crossing guard for the town of Wakefield for 25 years. She was a member of the Wakefield YMCA and Club International, which consisted of war brides from outside of the United States. Joyce was also an avid bridge player.

Joyce was the wife of the late Leo J. Curran. She was the mother of Leo F. Curran of Florida and Michael G. Curran and William D. Curran, both of Wakefield. She was the sister of Robert Warwick and Audrey Palmer both of England. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday, May 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. Her funeral services will be held in Florida at a later date.
