WAKEFIELD — Julia “Julie” Cassaro, 93, of Wakefield, died at her home on Thursday, July 25, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness. Born in Boston in 1926, she was the daughter of the late Michele and Santina (Cosentino) Cassaro. She was raised and educated in East Boston, graduated from East Boston High School and has lived in Wakefield since 1955. Julie worked briefly at Colonial Oil and later in the Payroll Department for the Town of Wakefield for many years.

She cared deeply for her family and often called her siblings, nieces and nephews daily, to check on everyone or a simple phone call to confirm they made it home safely after leaving a gathering at her home. Julie enjoyed hosting many family celebrations at her home especially during the holidays and Sunday dinners. She never missed a recital, sporting event or birthday. She loved listening to Italian music, working on word search puzzles and cherished her beloved dogs.

Julie is survived by her sister, Gloria Morrison and her late husband Arthur D. Morrison of Swampscott; her sister-in-law, Phyllis Cassaro of Wakefield and her many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters and their husbands, Liboria and Joseph A. Contardo, Mary Sue and Richard Mahoney, Adeline and Thomas Allen and Edith and Joseph Janielis and her brother, Michael Cassaro.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 30 in the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn at 11a.m. Burial will be in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
