MEDFORD — Kathleen L. Byron, 80, of Medford formerly of Wakefield, Reading and Acton, Maine entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care.

Born in Cambridge of Nov. 15, 1934 she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy O’Brien.

Mrs. Byron was raised and educated in Wakefield and attended both St. Joseph School and Wakefield High School. She raised her family in Reading before moving to Acton, Maine in the late 1980s. She had worked as a former employee of Westinghouse and also for Cabletron in Acton, Maine. Her proudest achievement was receiving her high school diploma later in life in Maine. Mrs. Byron loved animals and rescue dogs and enjoyed baking.

She was the wife of the late Gerald W. Byron. She is survived by her children Stephen W. Byron of Bedford, Patricia L. Hess and her husband John A. Hess Jr. of Stoneham, Paul F. Byron and wife Eva of Kittery, Maine and Kathleen M. Byron of Presque Isle, Maine. She was the sister of William O’Brien of Reading, Paul F. O’Brien of Maine and the late Robert O’Brien. She is also survived by her grandchildren Oscar, Jack, Colleen and Michael and his wife Liz.

A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Saturday at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St. at 10 a.m. Interment St. Ignatius Cemetery, Sanford, Maine.
