WAKEFIELD — Kevin D. Whitaker, 57, of Wakefield died suddenly June 5.
He was born in Arlington on May 29, 1958 and was the son of the late Lewis A. Whitaker Jr. and Denise A. (Sullivan) Cullen.
Mr. Whitaker was raised in Medford and attended Medford High School. He had been a Wakefield resident for more than 20 years and was a member of the Wakefield Lodge of Elks.
For many years he was employed as a builder and carpenter in the New England area. Mr. Whitaker was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed motorcycling and skydiving, deep sea diving and fishing. He was also a drummer and lover of rock ‘n roll music.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him for his many acts of kindness and his generosity to others.
Mr. Whitaker was the beloved husband of the late Leslye A. (Mack) Whitaker. He was the loving father of Matthew and Derek Whitaker of Wakefield. He is also survived by his brother Lewis A. “Bud” Whitaker of Washington and his sister Theresa A. Whitaker of Wakefield. He is predeceased by his sister Sharon D. Gillingham.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Playstead Road, Medford on Thursday at 11.
