NORTH READING — Senior captain Jess Lezon recorded her fourth straight double–double with an amazing 31 points and 21 rebounds as the Hornets won their ninth straight, defeating the Georgetown Royals 64–50 Monday afternoon. Fellow senior captain Carly Swartz was solid as well with 16 points.

The Royals took a 3–2 lead early on in the first quarter. The early lead didn’t last long though as the Hornets went on a 10–0 run and were up 12–3 at the 1:26 mark. By the end of the quarter North Reading led 14–8.

Georgetown opened the second with a quick basket cutting the lead to three. But once again the Hornets responded with another surge going on a 16–2 run and midway through the quarter found themselves up 30–13. They went on to outscore the Royals 21–14 in the quarter to take a 13 point halftime lead.

The Royals tried to battle back in the third quarter and cut the lead to 42–36 at 2:38. But for the third time North Reading answered. The Hornets went on a 13–2 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters to push the lead to 55–38. Georgetown couldn’t recover and the Hornets went on to a 14 point victory.
