1983 MHS graduate

NORTH CAROLINA — Laura Anne Perry (Leblanc) entered into eternal rest on February 22 in North Carolina after a brief illness. Laura was born and raised in Melrose, where she was a 1979 graduate of St. Mary’s School and a 1983 graduate of Melrose High School.

Laura’s early adulthood was marked by her early battle for health. Following a diagnosis that she may end up wheelchair bound, Laura was led to a treatment that eventually allowed her a normal and healthy life. For a time, while receiving treatment, Laura lived first in New York City and then near Orlando, FL. This battle lay the foundation for a strength and tenacity that helped define Laura for so many that knew and loved her. Having successfully reclaimed her health, Laura moved to Centerville, MA where she earned her Associate’s Degree from Cape Cod Community College in 1998. After marrying in 1997, Laura moved to Hyannis and later to Willow Spring, NC.

Laura is survived by her loving parents Edmond and Patricia of NY; siblings Susan Carpenter of NY; Michael of MA; and Jonathan Porier of PA; her daughter Sarah and her husband Kerry, both of NC; and eight nieces and nephews. A Mass was held in Laura’s name on Thursday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.
