Resident of town for 59 years

 

Leo-petti-Obit-webNORTH READING — Leo M. Petti, 88, of North Reading and formerly of Milford, died at his home on Friday, May 29, 2015.

Born in Milford, on Aug. 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Leonardo and Maria (DiCanio) Petti. He was raised and attended school in Milford and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1944. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in 1952 and his master’s in Electrical Engineering in 1958.

Leo was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He worked for Sikorsky Aircraft in Bridgeport, Conn., Westinghouse in Philadelphia, Pa. and later for the General Electric Aircraft Division in Lynn for 33 years. He was Registered Professional Engineer. Leo was a resident of North Reading for the past 59 years and was a member of St. Theresa Church.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of integrity and sharp wit. Leo was a practical-minded engineer who also kept his faith. He was an avid bridge player, master of Sudoku, crossword puzzle solver and he enjoyed a good mystery movie.

Family members include his loving wife of 62 years, Claire M. (Mazzarelli) Petti; his son, Christopher J. Petti and his wife Judy Atterholt of Mountain View, Calif. and their two children, Daniel and Anna Petti; his daughters, Paula L. Petti and her husband Lawrence Hall of Orinda, Calif. and their two children, Geoffrey and David Hall; and Lisa M. Petti of Hamden, Conn.; his brother, Anthony Petti and his wife Theresa and his sister, Nancy Nogueira and her husband James, all of Milford. He was the father of the late Leonard F. Petti and brother of the late Philomena Fullum and Grace Daniels.

His funeral was held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading on Wednesday, June 3, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Theresa Church, 63 Winter St. (Rt. 62), North Reading. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
