WAKEFIELD — Lillian Joan Raffael, 90, of Wakefield died Monday, August 21, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Lillian was born on March 19, 1927 in Wakefield and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angela (Pizzano) Capone.

Lillian was a lifelong Wakefield resident and was a member of St. Florence Church, the Italian Club, the Red Hat Society and the Crystal Community Club. She had worked as a hostess at the Hilltop Restaurant for many years. Above all, Lillian loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lillian was the beloved wife of the late John J. Raffael Jr. She was the loving mother of Robert A. Raffael of Gloucester, Lisa J. Raffael of Burlington, VT., Cheryl A. Butt and her husband Stephen of Middleton and the late John J. Raffael, III. She was the sister of Virginia Hopkins of Wakefield and the late Sylvia Vellante. She was the grandmother of the Kristen TenBroek and her husband Trampas, Brendan Butt and his wife Paula, Benjamin Gold, and the late Michael Butt. She was the great-grandmother of Dylan and Ella TenBroek and John Michael Butt. She is also survived by her beloved goddaughter, Patricia Dente of Reading, her aunt Dorothy Anastas of Wakefield, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, August 24, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. There are no calling hours.
