WAKEFIELD — Lois D. Arthur, 76, of Wakefield, died Tuesday, August 29, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Worcester on February 16, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Iver and Harriett (Downing) Laine.
Mrs. Arthur was raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1958, and later of the University of Rhode Island in 1962. She had obtained her bachelor’s degree in Education and had taught in Sudbury and Stoneham, as well as Berwick, ME.
She had been a longtime Wakefield resident, moving to the area in 1973 and she was active in the Wakefield Senior Center.
Mrs. Arthur was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Arthur. She was the loving sister of Richard Laine and his wife Elaine of South Carolina and Robyn Lovering of Norton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; as well as many dear friends.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Glade Cemetery, Lowell Street, Wakefield on Wednesday, September 6, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
