Captain Timmy Leggett suffered his first loss of the season to Masco’s Jack Darling. Leggett’s current record stands at 8-1.

“Masconomet remains undefeated at 6-0,” said Black and Gold head coach Craig Stone. “We did not pair up well as Masconomet returned three state place finishers, and All-State champion Jack Darling, who was also a New England Wrestling Tournament runner-up. We cannot look at this match as anything but a gut check. How we come back from this as a team will be a true test.”

The Black and Gold participated in a meet against Wakefield, Marblehead, Malden Catholic, Dedham and Salem on Saturday, Dec. 22, taking place after deadline. The grapplers will compete in the Pentucket Holiday Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 27, beginning at 10 a.m. The Black and Gold will face off against Beverly, North Andover, Greater Lawrence, Salem and Arlington on Sunday, Dec. 30, beginning at 9 a.m. at Beverly High School.
