With the tie, the Pioneers record went to 2-2-2 overall.

It was a heartbreaker for the Pioneers as the Generals tied the game with only 57.7 seconds left in the game.

The day before the tie, Lynnfield was edged 1-0 by host Newburyport at Graf Rink.

Ryan Archer had the lone goal for the Clippers in the second period.

On Jan. 20, the news was much better as the Pioneers blanked host Rockport 6-0 at the Talbot Rink in Gloucester.

Tyler Scoppettuolo scored twice in the opening period. His first tally came at the 7:30 mark. He then scored his second goal just 40 seconds later assisted by Nate Alves on a 2-on-1 break.

In the second period, the Pioneers erupted for four goals.

Owen Kennedy scored the third goal while Will Steadman made it 4-0.

Just 44 seconds later, Brenden Henehan made it 5-0.

Chase Carney capped the scoring late in the second.

Lynnfield outshot the Vikings 34-23 as goalie Jake DeBenedictis made 23 stops to post his first shutout of the year.

The Pioneers’ next game is on Wednesday night (Jan. 27) at 7 p.m as they face Pentucket at the Veterans Memorial Rink in Haverhill.

Lynnfield will then try to get a split of the season series on Saturday afternoon as they host Newburyport at McVann-O’Keefe Rink in Peabody.

Faceoff for that game is at noon.
