LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield High boys’ basketball team hammered visiting Hamilton-Wenham, 77-42, on Dec. 20. With the win, the Pioneers improved to 2-0 while the Generals fell to 0-2.
“We hit 14 3-pointers,” pointed out Lynnfield head coach John Bakopolus, about the main reason for the rout. “We were able to get some good looks in transition.”
Lynnfield led this one wire-to-wire as they led by a comfortable, 36-13 score at the half. Bakopolus then was able to play his bench the entire fourth quarter.
Justin Flores had a memorable night scoring 22 points as the sophomore hit six 3-pointers.
Alex Fleming had another huge night with 19 points and 21 rebounds.
Zach Pincus and Grant Neal both scored eight points each.
Lynnfield will have it’s longest layoff of the season — two weeks — as they had the Christmas Vacation Week off and will have most of this week off before returning to action on Jan. 3 as they visit rival North Reading. That game will start at 7 p.m.
