LYNNFIELD — Last Saturday morning, the Lynnfield High boys’ soccer team won at Georgetown 2-0. With that victory, the Pioneers improved to 4-1-1 overall as they won their third consecutive game.

The Pioneers scored once in the second quarter while the other tally took place early in the fourth.

Midway through the second, the Pioneers scored an own goal off a corner kick as the ball went off a Royal and into the net.

The other goal was scored by sophomore Ben Sykes assisted by senior, Mateuz Brzezinski.

Dante Gesamondo recorded his third shutout of the year as the senior co-captain had two saves to go to 4-1-1.

“We dominated the territorial play,” stated Pioneers head coach Brent Munroe. “We had a lot of shot attempts and hit the post a couple of times.”

The game at Rockport on Monday was postponed due to COVID-19 issues (makeup date unknown at press time).

On Wednesday (Oct. 28) the Pioneers will host Triton at 5 p.m. That is the team’s Senior Day as the 10 12th-graders will be honored.

Lynnfield will then welcome Pentucket on Halloween morning at 10 a.m.
