SOUTH HAMILTON — The Lynnfield High boys’ track and field team won their first meet of the season on Monday, defeating host Hamilton-Wenham by a score of 102-31.
The Pioneers took first place in 12 events over the Generals.
Dean Bey had two first-place finishes to lead the way. Bey was first in the 400 hurdles at 75.4 and first in the high jump with a leap of 5’6”.
Owen Kennedy had the best javelin throw of the day at 104’4”.
Nick Marcinowski had the best shot put throw at 36’3”.
Cole Trainor had the best discus throw at 94’9”.
James Considine led the way in the long jump with an 18’3”.
Lars Ruecker was first in the triple jump with a 36’2”.
Bakari Mitchell came in first in the 110 hurdles at 19.4.
Christian Murphy flew to first in the 400 at 57.1.
Mike Madden had the top two mile time at 11:11.6.
The 4×100 relay team of Attubato, Cucciniello, Connolly and Mitchell was first in 47.0.
The Pioneers are now 1-3 on the season. They dropped their first three meets against Newburyport, Amesbury and Triton.
Lynnfield’s meet against the Vikings on Friday took place under the lights at Triton Regional. The Pioneers fell by a score of 94-40 but had plenty of highlights including three first place finishes and three second place finishes.
Madden got first in the one mile in a time of 4:54.
Marcinowski took first in the shot put again with a 35’5”.
The 4×400 relay team of Luba, DiGangi, Sykes and Madden took the gold in 4:02.
Second place finishes included Bey in the 400 hurdles (71.5) and the 110 hurdles (21.3); Cucciniello in the 100 meters (11.5) and Ruecker in the high jump (5’6”).
Lynnfield will look to build on Monday’s victory when they host Pentucket on Thursday, 3:30 p.m. at Lynnfield Middle School.
