BOSTON — The Lynnfield High boys’ indoor track and field team placed 7th out of 10 schools in the Cape Ann League Meet on Feb. 8 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. The Pioneers scored 10 points overall. Newburyport was first in the meet.

“I was very proud of them,” said Pioneers head coach Christine Smith, about her team’s performance. “We has so many personal bests I couldn’t count them.”

Only the top six in each event receive points as most of the personal-bests were by Pioneer athletes who didn’t come in the top six.

The best finish was the 4×200 relay team of Anthony Attubato, Charlie Morgan, Kyle Schmitz and Jack DiGangi as they placed fourth with a time of 1:41.36.

Lynnfield had two individuals place fifth, Joe Cucciniello in the 55-meters (6.94 seconds) and Charlie Capachietti in the long jump (18-7).

For Cucciniello, it was a personal-best time.

The two sixth-place finishes were Nick Marcinowski and Attubato. Marcinowski had a toss of 38-11 in the shot-put while Attubato had a time of 39.27 in the 300 meters.

This Friday, the Pioneers will compete in the Division 5 State Meet back at the Reggie Lewis Center. That event will start at 4:30 p.m.

In the regular season, Lynnfield went 1-3 as they were in fourth place in the CAL Kinney Division.
