LYNNFIELD — Playing for the first time in two weeks, there was no rust for the Lynnfield High girls’ lacrosse team on Monday afternoon as they beat visiting Wilmington, 11-7, in a non-league game.

With that win, they improved to 2-3 overall.

“I was so proud of the way the girls played,” said Pioneers rookie head coach Christina Serra. “They played hard and things are now starting to click on both offense and defense.”

The Pioneers led this one wire-to-wire as they were up, 5-2, at the half.

Freshman Taylor Valiton had a career-high five goals while fellow ninth-grader Sarah Powers had a team-high five assists to go with one goal.

Senior co-captain, Anna Kaminski, had four points with two goals and two assists while single goals were scored by Charlotte Radulski, Catherine Sweeney and Chloe Considine.

Sarah Degenero improved to 2-3 in goal as she turned back 10 Wildcat shots on net.

Lynnfield will play back-to-back games on Wednesday and Thursday and both will be on the road. On April 27, they go to Pentucket. They then visit Newburyport the next day.

Both games will start at 3:45 p.m.

On May 2, the Pioneers welcome Ipswich with that game starting at 4:30 p.m.
