LYNNFIELD — The girls’ soccer team opened first week of the season with a win and a loss.

Lynnfield crushed Triton 10-0 during the home opener on Sept. 3.

Sophomore midfielder Giada Antidormi scored Lynnfield’s first goal on a penalty kick six minutes into the first half.

Sophomore forward Ava Damiani gave the Pioneers a 2-0 lead after burying a shot 30 seconds after Antidormi scored.

Senior captain/forward Bella Carroll found the back of the net 12 minutes into the first half. Antidormi had the assist.

Antidormi scored her second goal of the game 19 minutes into the opening frame.

Junior midfielder Bella Sykes gave the Pioneers a 5-0 lead after burying a shot with 17 minutes remaining in the first half, assisted by sophomore forward/midfielder Kaylee Barrett.

Damiani scored her second goal of the contest with 13 minutes remaining in the first half. Senior captain/defender Ariana Guarraccino and Barrett had the assists.

Lynnfield took a decisive 6-0 lead at the break.

Sophomore midfielder Adriana Regitano scored her first varsity goal after converting on a corner kick 38 seconds into the second half.

Antidormi finished with her first career hat trick after nailing a shot two minutes into the second half, assisted by Carroll.

Barrett scored her first goal of the season 13 minutes into the second half. Senior captain/midfielder Emma Rose had the assist.

Damiani recorded her first career hat trick after she scored with 11 minutes remaining in the game, assisted by junior midfielder Hannah Ozanian and Sykes.

Sophomore goalie Victoria Minor tallied two saves in net against the Vikings.

Pioneers head coach Mark Vermont commended Antidormi and Damiani for recording their first career hat tricks against Triton.

“Ava moves well off the ball and puts herself in a good position to finish opportunities,” said Vermont. “Giada is a very composed midfielder who has a tremendous shot.”

Vermont said the Pioneers played very well against the Vikings.

“I was very happy with the way the team played,” said Vermont. “We came out strong and moved the ball well.”

Clipped by Newburyport

Lynnfield fell 2-1 to Cape Ann League rival Newburyport on Sept. 5.

The Clippers jumped out to a 1-0 lead after scoring on a corner kick with 11 minutes remaining in the first half.

Sykes tied the game after she scored a minute after Newburyport took a 1-0 lead. Antidormi took a free kick, and Sykes converted on the rebound.

Newburyport scored the game-winning goal six minutes into the first half.

Vermont said the Pioneers had opportunities to score later in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net.

Minor tallied 10 saves in the cage against the Clippers.

“Victoria is new to the varsity team as our starting goalie,” said Vermont. “It was a big game, and Victoria stayed composed and played a great game.”

Vermont said the Pioneers played very well against Newburyport.

“It was a great game,” said Vermont. “Newburyport was ready to play, and it was a great back-and-forth game. We did a good job possessing the ball, but we just needed an extra pass here and there.”

The Pioneers faced Essex Tech on Tuesday, Sept. 10, taking place after deadline. Lynnfield travels to Georgetown on Thursday, Sept. 12, beginning at 4 p.m.
