LYNNFIELD — On April 17 during school vacation week, the Lynnfield High softball team won at Rockport, 6-2. With that win, the Pioneers improved to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the Cape Ann League.

Reilly Ganter was the winning pitcher improving to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the Cape Ann League. She went all seven innings allowing no earned runs and four hits. She walked three and struck out eight.

“Considering it was her second day in a row pitching, she did a an outstanding job,” said Pioneers manager Peter Marinelli.

The Pioneers scoring was spread out as she scored twice in the top of the second inning, one in the third, two in the fourth and one more in the seventh.

Jillian Babine led the team in RBI’s with three as she had a two-run double in the first to go with a fielder’s choice for the other one.

Allie Wing and Sam Lebruska both had one RBI each on fielder’s choices.

The day before, the Pioneers were blanked by Triton, 11-0, at home.

“They are the only unbeaten team in our league and they are the best team I have seen, including North Reading,” said Marinelli.

The Vikings scored three times in the first and once in the fourth. They then plated five runs in the fifth and added two more in the sixth. Ganter gave up 10 earned runs, 13 hits four walks and she did not strike anybody out as she went all seven innings.
