LYNNFIELD — With COVID-19 virus regulations now lifted, Lynnfield Recreation will be offering summer trips for children once again.

Lynnfield Rec was unable to hold its “Rec-Ventures” trips last summer due to the global pandemic, but the popular trips are back this year for children entering third grade and older.

“Kids entering grade 9 and 10 are welcome and will be able to stay in their own group,” Recreation Director Julie Mallett stated in a program booklet. “The bus leaves and returns to Lynnfield Middle School. There will be no refunds or account credits given if parents and guardians cancel anytime within two weeks of a trip unless they have a doctor’s note. If people cancel before the two weeks, a credit will be put on their Recreation account. This will be enforced as we have to plan for staff, buses and admission in advance.”

Mallett noted that the trips may change or be canceled “due to weather or enrollment.”

“Each child will be provided an orange Rec shirt on their first trip,” Mallett stated. “They may purchase an extra shirt for $8.”

The first trip will take place on Tuesday, June 29, where children and chaperones will be visiting Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester and Cherry Farm Creamery in Danvers. The trip costs $45 and runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

“It’s time to take a break and relax at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester,” Mallett stated. “Kids can bring a lunch or bring money to purchase food. Kids should not forget to bring a towel, sun block and beach games. We will stop for ice cream on the way home.”

A trip to Take Flight Aerial Park and Kittery Beach in Maine will take from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6. The trip costs $75.

“This Aerial Adventure Course has over 65 activities and elements, including multi-vines, cat walks, Burma bridges, tube nets, swinging tires, swinging platforms and a super swing,” Mallett stated. “With over a dozen different types of cargo nets to climb up, on, across, over and through, kids will want to come back again and again. We will then head over to the beach to cool off. Children will need a bathing suit, a towel, sneakers, a bagged lunch or money to purchase lunch.”
