Longtime resident was an avid golfer

LYNNFIELD — James F. Simmons, of Lynnfield, died on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022 at his residence.

Born in Boston on Aug. 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Earl and Alice (Brice) Simmons.

Mr. Simmons was a graduate of Medford High School. He had been a resident of Lynnfield for over 40 years. Mr. Simmons served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a retired truck driver for the Piantedosi Baking Company in Malden. Mr. Simmons was a member of the Wakefield-Lynnfield Elks, and was an avid golfer and an avid Boston sports fan.

He was the husband of the late Janet E. (Moynihan) Simmons. His sister Valerie McCarthy of Derry, New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews survive Mr. Simmons. Two sisters and a brother predecease Mr. Simmons: Patricia Santangelo, Roberta Dawson and Paul Simmons.

Visitation for relatives and friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, was held on Thursday, Aug. 25. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, on Friday, Aug. 26, which was followed by an interment at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield.
