NORTH READING — The Notice of Intent public hearing before the Conservation Commission for the senior housing proposal at 148 Park St. has been delayed at the request of the applicant. The matter will not be heard at the Sept. 14 ConCom meeting, the Transcript has learned.

Last week the Transcript reported that developer D. Bruce Wheeler, trustee of the J.B. McLane House Realty Trust, 148 Park St., had applied for the public hearing before the commission, which holds its meetings via teleconference.

The NOI will be filed at a later date as it is required under the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the North Reading General Wetlands Protection Bylaw, Chapter 196. Wheeler is proposing to construct an apartment building for senior housing with associated walkways, utilities, drives, parking areas, storm water management BMPs, landscaping and other site amenities.

The requested use of the land for senior housing was approved as an overlay district by the voters at Town Meeting in June 2021. The 148 Park St. site is located within the Center Village Historic District.
