MELROSE — M. Barbara (Torian) Stanton, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 with her family by her side.

Barbara was born in Stoneham, on Oct. 23, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Esther A. and Manoog Torian.

She was the wife of the late Elmer N. Stanton, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage. She is survived by her five devoted daughters: Sherryl Sants of Walpole; Darlene Houde and her husband Ronald of Hampstead, N.H.; Paula Stanton and her spouse Kim Smith of Norwood; Donna Stanton and her spouse Karen Berube of Walpole, and Jamie Laudanno and her husband Joseph Sr. of Saugus. She was the dear sister of the late Richard W. Torian and his surviving wife Mary of Milford.

She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Andrew and Nicholas Sants, Rebecca and Jonathan Houde and Joseph Laudanno Jr. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Alexis and Brody. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her seven beloved “grand dogs.”

She was known to her grandchildren as Grammy, Gammy, Gram and Bobo. And to her great-grandchildren as GiGi.

Barbara was best known for her deep devotion and loyalty to her family. Her strength, humility and sassy humor were truly unmatched. Barbara’s generous spirit will continue to live in all who loved her.
