Volunteer at Holy Family Hospital

 

NORTH READING — M. Therese “Terry” (Loorom) Sweeney Quinn, 87, of Methuen and a former resident of North Reading for many years, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at the Bethany Health Care in Framingham. She was the wife of the late John A. Quinn and the late Edward F. Sweeney Jr.

Born in Lowell on Aug.16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Marie Jeanette (Lemire) Loorom. She was raised in Lowell and was a graduate of Saint Patrick School, Class of 1942 and Lowell High School, Class of 1946.

Terry worked as a Customer Service Representative for the Rainin Research Group in Woburn for many years.

Terry had a giving and loving heart, devoting over 2,000 hours of volunteering at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She had a great love for animals, especially her dog Mushigai and Clementine and most importantly her children, Christine, Edward, Cynthia and Tracy.

She enjoyed playing Bridge, sewing, knitting, painting, gardening and listening to music. Terry enjoyed going to the Salisbury and Hampton beaches, with her sisters and their children in the summer and skiing in New Hampshire with other North Reading families in the winter. She also loved traveling to Ireland, England, France, Scotland and Canada.

Family members include her loving children, Christine T. Cusack and her husband Andy Anderson of The Villages, Fla., Edward F. Sweeney III of Haverhill, Cynthia Barnes and her husband Michael of Oxfordshire, England and Tracy Sweeney of Burlington, Vt.; granddaughters, Charlotte and Isabella Barnes; sisters, Lorraine Thomas and her husband Raymond of Salisbury and Plant City, Fla., Lyn Gauthier and her husband Richard of Dracut and her late brother, Raymond Loorom.

Her funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Theresa Church, 63 Winter St. (Rt. 62), North Reading. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Bethany Health Care Center, 97 Bethany St., Framingham MA 01702, Attn.
