MELROSE — A man who had just had blood drawn at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital drove through the front door of an East Emerson Street home Wednesday morning after having a medical episode and apparently blacking out.

No one was seriously injured, officials said.

“The driver doesn’t remember a thing,” the homeowner said in a published report. “He must have been asleep with his foot on the pedal,” he said.

The driver, a 25-year-old, said he was at Melrose-Wakefield where he had blood drawn at the hospital, got in his car and blacked out. He said he woke up inside the house.

The driver was able to walk away, not hurt.

The airbags of his Ford deployed.

Crews were working to help fortify the front of the home just before 1 p.m.

Police said there were no major injuries as no one was in the home at the time of the crash. The driver was sitting in an ambulance, right after, and appeared to be shaken up.

East Emerson was blocked off from Rowe to Lebanon streets.
